First Graders Enjoy Book Tasting, Whet Appetite for Summer Reading

Natalie Meyers' first-grade students at North Ridge spent Thursday's half-day enjoying a "book tasting."
Upon entering the surprise "reading cafe,” the students had the chance to sample five different genres of books: biographies, fiction, nonfiction, series and fairy tales.
They spent time reading a sampling of books, then used their "menu" to record their thoughts and must-reads for the summer.
Meyers' aim with the activity is to reinvigorate the children's interest in a variety of books and to hopefully excite them for summer reading.
